After four days of negotiations, the Congress has finally decided to select Siddaramaiah as the next Chief Minister of the state. Siddaramaiah will most take oath as CM this Saturday. DK Shivakumar will take oath as the Deputy Chief Minister.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi have a discussion with both the two contenders.
According to sources, Siddaramaiah will not be the CM of Karnataka for the entire term of five years. There has a term-rotating formula between Siddaramaiah, and DK Shivakumar has agreed upon. It is expected that the CM’s post will be handed to DK Shivakumar after 2.5 years.
A top source from Congress said, “We can’t take any decision without discussing face-to-face with both of these leaders. Both Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar have the right to express their views and decisions. Also, DK Shivakumar is the current president of PCC, so we can’t announce anything without hearing him out. The same applies to Siddaramaiah.”
