After a two-month-long election campaign PM Modi reached Kanyakumari on Thursday, May 30, and before reaching the memorial he visited the Bhagavathy Amman Temple and offered prayers.
This is his three-day meditation break in Kanyakumari after his last poll campaign happened in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur.
This meditation program will continue till 1st June.
Once Swami Vivekananda meditated at the same rock for three days in 1892 after wandering across India. The meditation was for the development of India. This rock also has a special hall named Sripada Mandapam, where according to Hindu mythology Goddess Parvati meditated on one foot for Lord Shiva.
Before reaching the Vivekananda Rock Memorial he visited the Bhagavathy Amman Temple in Kanyakumari, where the temple authorities gave him a picture of the deity.
After that, he reached the Vivekananda Rock by ferry and started his mediation at Dhyan Mandapam.
PM Modi took similar trips in 2014 and 2019 after the Lok Sabha Election campaign at Pratapgarh and Kedarnath respectively.
