A police spokesman said that an encounter broke out after security forces and militants launched a cordon and search operation in Wanigam Payeen village of Pattan Thursday morning.
Two terrorists, identified as Shakir Majid Najar and Hanan Ahmad Seh from the Shopian district, were killed in a gunfight with the police and security forces in the northern Baramulla district on Thursday.
“Both joined terrorism in the month of March 2023. Further Investigation going on,” said a police spokesman while quoting ADGP Kashmir.
Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “#BaramullaEncounterUpdate: Two #terrorists neutralised. Identification being ascertained. #Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 01 AK 47 rifle and one pistol recovered.”
