The UP government today announced that the movie will be made tax-free. The announcement comes a day after the Mamata Baneerjee-led West Bengal government’s ban move.
The Kerala Story, the controversial film, tells the stories of three women radicalised into joining the terror group ISIS, has started getting opposite responses from state governments.
‘The Kerala Story’ to be made tax-free in Uttar Pradesh,” UP CM Yogi Adityanath tweeted today.
Last week on May 6, The Madhya Pradesh government declared ‘The Kerala Story’ tax-free in the state.
As per the statement by the chief minister’s secretariat, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, along with his cabinet colleagues, could watch the movie together. Last year, UP CM watched Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ at a special screening after declaring it tax-free in the state.

Recently UP BJP secretary Raghvendra Mishra was shown to film to 100 girl students.
The movie ‘The Kerala Story’ is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Sudipto Sen. It started getting the attention of people soon after its trailer was released last month.
West Bengal Govt. bans The Kerala Story
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday declared an immediate ban on the screening of the movie in the state to avoid “any incident of hatred and violence,” a senior state government official said.
“The movie ‘The Kerala Story’ is trying to expose the consequences of terrorism in society, especially in a state like Kerala which is a beautiful land of hardworking, talented and intellectual people. The Congress party is now trying to ban the film and support the terror elements”, Indian PM Narendra Modi said at a poll rally in Ballari last week.
